Buckle up, folks. Next week is a *very* pivotal one for Bachelorette Charity Lawson. After a few weeks of a rather expedited dating process, Charity is heading to her remaining lovers’ hometowns. This is a particularly exciting event because the “hometown episode” marks the moment when Charity was sent home during Zach Shallcross’ season of The Bachelor. So, she already knows it’s a make-or-break moment for the contestants.
In case you need a quick refresher: the set-up is pretty simple, and generally involves some up-close-and-personal dates with the contestants and a mom or two. The Bachelorette gets to see where her men grew up, and (usually) meets some of their family members. These episodes are also when the eventual winner becomes a bit more obvious, and the most devastating breakups typically occur. I mean, getting dumped in front of your entire family isn’t so great, but a girl has got to draw a line somewhere!
Luckily, you don’t have to wait to see what happens, because Women’s Health has all the deets on Charity’s upcoming Hometowns episode and the remaining contestants. Everybody say, “Thank you, Reality Steve.”
Who gets a hometown date with Charity?
The latest Bach episode made it clear which contestants who will be returning for hometowns: Xavier Bonner, Aaron Bryant, Dotun Olubeko, and Joey Graziadei.
Charity will be traveling all across the United States to meet her men for their dates, including pit stops in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and California.
Xavier Bonner
First up will be Xavier, who currently resides in Carrboro, North Carolina, according to his ABC bio. However, this dude’s hometown date will take place in his OG home state of Ohio. Xavier’s parents have been married for over thirty years, so I’m betting Charity will love the family commitment, and will remember that when she imagines a future with Xavier.
The date was originally filmed on April 11, per Reality Steve.
Joey Graziadei
Next up is Joey, whose hometown date was filmed on April 13, Reality Steve says.
Joey won big last week in the one-on-one date department, so here’s hoping this episode goes just as well for him. He’s taking Charity to Pennsylvania—which TBH, is a bit of a let down considering he currently lives in Hawaii. Still, given how well this season is going for him, I imagine he will make the Hershey state seem romantic. It is Taylor Swift’s birthplace, after all.
Aaron Bryant
While Aaron is currently a software salesman in San Diego, California, he will be taking Charity on her third date in his home state of Texas (this part was filmed on April 15, so Charity is definitely moving along pretty quickly).
So far, Aaron has won Charity over with his super romantic vibes, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out when he’s surrounded by, uh, family members. Oh, and fun fact: he taught himself how to play the violin and the piano, so perhaps there will be some romantic crooning and original love songs in the works.
Dotun Olubeko
Dotun, my personal favorite, will be showing Charity around California for her last hometown date. The scenes were shot on April 17, and IMO she probably saved the best for last
The 30-year-old integrative medicine specialist currently calls Brooklyn, New York home, so if Charity ends up with him, she’ll be living the bicoastal lifestyle.
When were the Hometowns filmed?
The episode was recorded over the span of a week in April 2023, according to Reality Steve. Xavier Bonner’s hometown portion kicked off on Tuesday, April 11, with Joey following on Thursday, April 13, Aaron on Saturday, April 15, and Dotun on Monday, April 17.
Sadly, there are no photos of the hometown dates quite yet, so stay tuned for what to expect.
What about the families?
While everyone’s focused on how well the men do with Charity, it’s also safe to assume that their families play a big role in her decision.
As everyone knows, you don’t just marry the person, you marry their families. Plus, these interviews might reveal which one of the remaining contestants will be the next Bachelor. (Remember the lasting impression that Charity’s brother made on the viewers during her hometown episode? Case in point. He even ended up popping up for The Bachelorette premiere.)
Here’s what to know about the contestants’ families:
Xavier
Other than the fact that his parents are still together, there isn’t much to know quite yet about Xavier’s fam—but he did tell Charity earlier this season that his interest in science comes from his mother’s autoimmune disorder. According to his Instagram, Xavier is currently a PhD candidate at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Aaron B.
Like Xavier, Aaron’s parents are still married. He wrote on Instagram in 2017 that his parents’ marriage set a great example for him. It also seems like he has a brother, and potentially some other siblings, based on conversations he’s had with Charity this season.
Joey
Joey’s parents are divorced, as he explained in his introduction for The Bachelorette, and based on his Instagram, it seems he has a sister named Eleanor that everyone may meet. The guy seems like a total family man, as a lot of his social media posts include family members. But only time will tell if Charity likes his hometown energy!

Dotun
Dotun’s parents currently live in California, but his family immigrated from Nigeria, according to his ABC bio. Dotun also said he has a big family, so it’s likely Charity will meet a quite a few of them during her Cali visit. BTW, Dotun says in one of his Instagram captions that family is one of the most important things in life. Truly the sweetest!
Who goes home after hometowns?
Sadly, with every new episode of the Bachelorette, there’s at least one goodbye. Next week, Reality Steve reports that Aaron B. will get sent home. Womp womp. There isn’t much insight into how or why Charity doesn’t enjoy her stay in Texas, but the final three has officially been narrowed down to Joey, Dotun, and Xavier.
However, Steve says this won’t be the last Bachelor Nation will see of Aaron. Apparently, he’s going to come back during the overnight episodes to try to win Charity back. Still, it seems it doesn’t go in his favor. “I think it’s safe to say Aaron did not win,” Steve said on a podcast episode. “In fact, I will say it: Aaron didn’t win.”
Who does well at hometowns?
Again, it’s unclear exactly how the episode plays out for each contestant, but considering they advance to the overnight date portion of the season, it’s safe to say that Dotun, Joey, and Xavier all have successful hometown dates.
When does the hometown episode air?
It’s so soon. The hometown episode airs at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on July 31, 2023. In the meantime, you can catch up on all the Bachelorette episodes you missed on Hulu.
