Another summer in Cousins is coming.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is currently streaming its second season on Prime Video, but the series just got renewed again. I’m personally a little upset because I just want Belly to figure out her love life once and for all and choose Jeremiah (sorry, Connie). Still, it’s exciting that everyone gets a little more time with this incredibly gushy story.
The Summer I Turned Pretty television series is based on novels by Jenny Han. So luckily, viewers know what to expect for the upcoming season (more on that later).
So far in season 2, Belly and Conrad’s brief relationship didn’t quite work out, and Jeremiah is dealing with a lot of rejection. Plus, there’s definitely something romantic brewing between Taylor and Steven.
Season 2 still has a few more episodes to go, but there’s clearly plenty of plot left to explore to in the upcoming season, too.
So, what is there to know so far about The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3? Women’s Health has all the deets.
Will there be a season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Yes! TSITP officially announced a third season as of August 3, 2023. Jenny Han will remain one of the showrunners, along with Sarah Kucserka, per DEADLINE.
“We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon, said in a statement, per DEADLINE.
Apparently, Season 2 is one of Prime Video’s most watched programs—so it makes sense that the series got picked up again. It was also reportedly green-lighted before the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, per DEADLINE.
When will The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 be released?
With the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there’s no way to know when season 3 will even start production.
However, once a deal is reached, I’d imagine TSITP will hop right to it. The series usually shoots in the summer (go figure), Lola Tung recently told The Cut. So maybe production will take place in summer 2024?
Given the scheduling of the last two seasons, we can expect the new one to drop around 11 months after production wraps. However, this is only a guesstimate. Watch this space for more updates!
Who will be in the cast?
Hopefully, everyone in the first two seasons will be returning for the third, but no official announcement has been made yet. As of now, no one has said they’re leaving the series, so a full cast return is looking pretty optimistic.

What will TSITP Season 3 be about?
The Summer I Turned Pretty is a trilogy of novels, and the show stays pretty close to its source material.
The first season fell mostly in line with the original The Summer I Turned Pretty, and season two closely follows the series’ sequel, It’s Not Summer Without You.
Following along with the pattern, I’d guess season three will align with the third and final novel in the series, We’ll Always Have Summer. This novel opens just as Belly gets engaged to her longtime boyfriend…Jeremiah Fisher. Plot twist!
Of course, Conrad still has unresolved feelings for Belly. There’s also some gray area cheating going on between the love triangle, and Jeremiah and Belly’s wedding is called off.
Then, a time jump happens, and the book ends with Belly a little older, and planing to marry Conrad.
It’s likely TSITP season 3 will follow this novel pretty closely, but new details (such as the character Skye) have been added before, so only time will tell what’s truly in store for Belly.
